These stunning animals have sadly been the focus of much controversy in recent years in relation to bovine TB and culling in areas of the UK. They are part of the mustelid family and live in mixed groups (clans) in underground burrow systems that are known as setts, which can extend to over 50m. They can be found in a variety of habitats and forage on earthworms along with other items such as snails and blackberries.
