2023 art review

It’s that time of year again to reflect on the year that has passed and look forward to the next twelve months – such an exciting time as I love the process of planning for the new year.

2023 artwork

The past year has been one of my favourites to date. The images above show the works completed during 2023; it has been great to add a few new drawings to my wildlife portrait series (Hare in meadow, Red deer stag, Red fox, Badger, and Tawny owl), begin a new birth flowers series, work on some larger pieces (Nightlife, Jackdaws, and While you’re sleeping) explore new surfaces (Beneath the waves), draw a few pieces inspired by the seasons (Blackbird, Swift, Sol and Deer skull), contribute a couple of drawings to a charity fundraiser for The Big Cat Sanctuary (Tiger & cub, and Lions) and explore miniature drawings.

New in store

2023 has also seen the launch of my greetings cards and notecard sets, in addition to my handmade jewellery.

I have also added a new ‘From the archives’ category to my store, which as the name suggests features a number of ink and graphite original drawings for sale, selected from my archives.

Communications

I’ve enjoyed getting in touch with you on a more personal level through my blog posts, monthly newsletters and social media channels (Instagram and Facebook).

New stockists

It has been great to partner with the People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) for a third year in 2023 in terms of donating 10% of prints and original wildlife art sales to the PTES to support their amazing conservation work, and I’ve been thrilled to also have the PTES stock a selection of my prints in their online store.

In addition to the PTES, I am delighted to have the Peak District National Park Authority stock my prints in their fabulous Castleton Visitor Centre.

If you are interested in stocking my artwork in your own store, please check out my Work with me page to find out more.

What’s to come in 2024?

Looking ahead to 2024, I’m excited to re-open my pet portrait and wildlife portrait commission slots. New for 2024 are miniature pet portraits. I have wanted to delve into the world of miniature art for a while now, so it is fantastic to explore this further through art commissions. I will also be adding a few miniature wildlife portraits to my shop in due course.

I plan to continue to work on adding more wildlife portraits to my collections too, complete the birth flowers series and work on a few larger drawings.

Illustration

In addition to the above, I am also going to be offering illustration in 2024. This is something that I’ve been asked about a number of times over the last few years but I have not been in a position to take forward before now. If you’d like to discuss an illustration project, please find out more information via the Illustration Commissions page.

To close out this post, I would like to say a huge thank you. Your ongoing support means the world, whether it’s by following me on social media, purchasing my artwork, commissioning me to draw your gorgeous animal family members, reading my blog posts and signing up to receive my newsletters, I really appreciate it all; I hope you have a wonderful year ahead.

Your purchases have also helped to support vital conservation work again this year as I have donated 10% of sales to the PTES, whom I will be continuing to partner in 2024.
