Art Q&A 〰️

What are your ‘must have’ materials?*

It may sound obvious, but the essential materials for me as a graphite artist are my drawing tools, paper and drawing board.

This includes:

You can read more about ‘Graphite drawing – tools of the trade’ in an earlier blog post and discover more about ‘Types of graphite for artists’ in my last blog post.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I’m pretty much immersed in nature all day every day. From my work in ecology and nature/science writing through to my art, the natural world is a constant. Therefore, I’m fortunate that inspiration comes easily.

What’s the best thing about being an artist?

I have discovered so many amazing things since my drawing journey began; not least what a friendly and supportive bunch of people artists are. It’s a great thing to be part of in some small way.

Every piece I work on teaches me something new, which I love. I’m not someone who has spent their whole life creating artwork and I don’t think that the sense of wonder and enjoyment I feel when I have drawn something even vaguely recognisable will ever leave me. The passion and fire I have for drawing has been the best thing of all to rekindle and discover.

What are your future art ambitions?

Just to keep on enjoying what I do and improving. I am sure that my artwork will continue to evolve over time and I would like to create more projects that combine my love of writing and art.

I’m excited to see where my drawing takes me next, keep on learning and growing as an artist.

That’s it for this Q&A. Many thanks as always for your continued support and interest in my artwork – it’s always appreciated. Thank you for reading this post and I’ll see you on the next one!
