Spring 2023 art review
Before we race ahead into summer, it seems like a great time to take a little breather and have an art review of 2023 so far – it’s always good to take stock of progress from time to time.
New artwork
I’ve completed a number of new drawings so far this year, which have comprised a mixture of single subject wildlife portraits, larger wildlife in landscape drawings (A2) and a couple of more experimental sketches – I’ve collated the drawings to date in the gallery below.
‘While you’re sleeping’ (badger and barn owl drawing), ‘Nightlife’ (urban fox drawing) and ‘Jackdaws’ are my largest drawings to date at just under A2 in size. I’ve really enjoyed drawing at this larger scale and it has felt a much looser and freer way to work than smaller more intricate drawings, even though there is the same amount of detail. I am looking forward to working on more large drawings in the coming months.
I seem to have had a busier than ever year so far and a growing list of new drawings I would like to progress in the coming months too; I can’t wait to see what has transpired by the end of the year.

Updates
I think that brings us up to date with the main happenings so far in 2023. I have a couple of projects in the pipeline that I won’t reveal just yet, and I am, in general, really enjoying the creative energy I am feeling this year. I hope you have continued to enjoy following my art journey over the last few months and I look forward to sharing more with you as we move into the summer months. Many thanks as always for reading this far and for your interest in my drawings, it’s much appreciated.
